"Going Green" at Gran Park Self Storage Facility

Gran Park Self Storage has been designed with complete sustainability and superb energy efficiency in mind. The buildings are designed to withstand hurricane wind loads required by the State of Florida and Martin county. Designed with environmental safeguards!

Added insulation has been designed into the building walls and roof, reducing energy expenditure by more than 50% over standard building code requirements.

Interior lighting is all set on motion sensors, so that only the lights where people are working are engaged. Gran Park Self Storage’s environmental program ensures recycling of all cardboard and other paper products, which represents 80% of the project’s waste byproducts.

Gran Park Self Storage also uses only environmentally friendly cleaning products and pesticides.

Gran Park Joins GreenSite E-Waste Recycling Program

We have partnered with GreenSite and are now a drop off location for e-waste.

GreenSite is a leading recycler of excess and surplus computers and other electronics components. The company does not send electronics to landfills. All components are recycled by GreenSite and other down-line processors using methods approved by the EPA and state governments.

GreenSite will donate trees to the Arbor Day Foundation to help in their reforestation efforts in exchange for electronics received at Gran Park’s Drop Off location. Trees will be planted in Florida and other states that need to replace trees as a result of fires, disease and insect damage. Did you know that over the course of 50 years, a single tree can generate $31,250 worth of air pollution control, recycle $37,500 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of soil erosion?

Our employees use a smart car for all business related transportation.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the smart car’s fuel efficiency at 33 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving and 41 mpg on the highway.

That means just one stop per month at the gas station!

And here is some good news for everybody who is concerned about the lives of our employees in such a small car:

As for safety, the Smart “ForTwo” did well enough in crash tests by the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to earn the group’s highest rating—five stars—thanks to the car’s steel racecar-style frame and liberal use of high-tech front and side airbags.

Solar Panels Installed at Gran Park Self Storage

The use of solar panels or photovoltaic cell is the most common way to acquire the much needed solar energy. They are very efficient in generating a clean and renewable source of electricity.

We installed a 32,5 kw system on our roof of our 3 story building, which produces 48,000kw/h yearly.

Solar energy is a renewable energy source. Our panels are quiet collectors. They produce no noise unlike any other energy sources.

Solar energy is clean. It does not produce pollution at all. Solar power plants emit zero pollution and does not cause harm to the environment.
